Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Research Assistant for the Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research. The primary purpose of this position is to support and perform research involving blood draws, preparing specimens for lab testing (aliquoting), structured interviews, and other forms of data collection with community member.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Manages logisitics for ongoing studies.
- Assists in blood draws and preparing specimens for lab testing.
- Recruits and enrolls, including in-person, virtual, and over the phone.
- Data input, management, and preparation.
- Reviews data for integrity and adherence to study protocols.
- Community outreach via in-person events, telephone solicitation, or the development of or contribution to presentations, handouts, and marketing material.
- Assists with study management and coordination.
- Special projects as assigned based on demonstrated knowledge and job skills.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Certifications/Licenses
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Two (2) years of relevant experience working in social/behavioral or clinical research in academia or the private sector.
- Fluent (read/write/speak) in Hindi, Gujarati, Korean, Spanish, Chinese, Haitian Creole (strongly preferred) or Tagalog.
- Experience working with Indian, Filipino, Dominican, Mexican, Nigerian, Jamaican, Haitian or Korean communities.
- Working knowledge and the ability to use basic spreadsheet, word-processing, and database and analytical software for data analyses, such as STATA, SAS, R, mplus, and HLM.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must be able to communicate effectively and have effective client service skills.
- Ability to record and maintain data in computerized and non-computerized formats.

- Microsoft Office and database software.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Travel to research participants’ homes or other meeting locations to conduct research activities may be required.
- Work is required on evenings and weekends.
