About One APIA Nevada: One APIA Nevada is a 501(c)4 non-profit organization that incorporates progressive issue advocacy and a robust electoral program for the Asian Pacific Islander American (APIA) community in the state of Nevada.
We are seeking passionate Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islanders to organize and mobilize Nevadans to be civically engaged and informed of policies that affect the community.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for engaging with the community, organizing events, and advocating for social change.
Key Responsibilities
- Build connections and community with local AANHPI ethnic and cultural groups and grow relationships with local community leaders;
- Plan and execute community events, workshops, fundraisers, and advocacy campaigns, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Coordinate event logistics, including venue selection, permits, catering, transportation, and stage performance.
- Develop and manage event budgets, timelines, and schedules.
- Collaborate with the communications team to promote events through social media, email campaigns, and traditional media.
- Design culturally appropriate flyers and other marketing materials to ensure events are inclusive and accessible to all AANHPI groups.
- Recruit, train, and manage volunteers for event support.
- Delegate responsibilities and ensure volunteers feel valued and engaged.
- Collect feedback from attendees and stakeholders to assess event impact.
- Prepare post-event reports, including attendance metrics, financial summaries, and lessons learned
- Coordinate with the Northern Nevada Manager to work with team members on metrics and reporting as needed.
- Oversees youth fellow’s day-to-day schedule in collaboration with the program director
- Helps youth fellows with program assignments and answers logistical questions about Clicktime, Everyaction, etc.
- Works with fellows and program director to run the Northern Nevada Campus organizing program
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in political science, communications, nonprofit management, or a related field (equivalent work experience will be considered).
- 2+ years of experience in event coordination, preferably within the nonprofit or advocacy sector.
- Strong commitment to time management & leadership development
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Basic computer literacy and ability to use programs like Google Drive, Eventbrite, etc.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines and work with a team both in-person and remotely.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
- Bilingual in one of the following languages: Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, Hindi or Tagalog strongly preferred
- Familiarity with Nevada politics or Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities. Experience in the Battle Born state is a plus, but not required.
