Important Note: This volunteer role is eligible for a modest honorarium for 6 sessions of preparation and teaching.

Role Overview

We are looking for passionate and dedicated volunteers who are fluent in Filipino and enjoy teaching. Whether you have experience working with children, youth, or adults, what matters most is your ability to create a positive and engaging learning experience while sharing the richness of our language and culture.

Key Responsibilities

● Teach Filipino language (speaking, listening, reading, and writing) in age-appropriate and engaging ways.

● Introduce cultural elements such as songs, stories, dances, games, or traditions when possible.

● Build rapport with students and create a welcoming classroom environment.

● Work with fellow teachers and volunteers to plan lessons and activities.

● Encourage students to practice Filipino both in and outside of class.

● Participate in school activities and special events (e.g., cultural days, performances).

Qualifications

● Fluent in Filipino (speaking, reading, and writing).

● Passionate about teaching children and youth.

● Patient, creative, and able to make learning fun.

● Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with students. Teaching experience is an asset but not required.

Time Commitment

● Classes are held every Saturday in Vancouver (550 Cambie St, Artopia Building) at:

10:00 am - 11:30 am & 1:00 pm - 2:30pm - for Kinder/ Grade 1, Primary & Intermediate classes

3:00 - 4:30 pm for High school classes

● Preparation time as needed for lessons and activities.
