Coastline College
THE POSITION
Coastline College is seeking a full-time, equity-minded, tenure-track faculty member in Management, commencing with the Fall 2026 semester. The primary teaching assignment involves all areas of Management. This assignment also includes curriculum and program development; participation in department, division, and college committees; participatory governance activities assuming leadership roles both within the department and in the institution as a whole; collaboration across disciplines; the leveraging of student support resources; participation in ongoing professional development.
The assignment may be day, evening, weekend, online, hybrid, or off-campus and is subject to change as needed. The ideal candidate for this position embraces the overall mission of Coastline College and the Coast Community College District with a clear, focused commitment to offer inspiration, innovation and meaningful learning experiences to its diverse and changing community and prepares students to achieve success in post-secondary, career and technical, and life-long educational opportunities.
THE COLLEGE
Coastline College serves a diverse student population of approximately 19,361 students across multiple instructional modalities, including online and in person formats. In the 2024–25 academic year, the College awarded 1,225 degrees and 610 certificates while achieving strong end of term retention and course success rates.
The College’s student body reflects the dynamic racial and ethnic diversity of the region. Of enrolled students, 28.9% identify as Hispanic Latinx, 23.0% as Asian, 7.7% as Black African American, 25.3% as White, 4.2% as Two or More Races, 0.5% as American Indian Alaska Native, and 0.5% as Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander. An additional 1.5% identify as Filipino, while 25.3% of students are reported as unknown or unreported.

THE DEPARTMENT
The Management Department shares Coastline College’s commitment to equitable outcomes, inclusive practices, and racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic diversity. The Management Department plays a central instructional role in several college-wide initiatives, including Hope Scholars, which serves justice-impacted (currently incarcerated) students, a significant number of whom enroll in Management and Business courses. Faculty also contribute to Pace+, Coastline’s direct assessment, competency-based education program, designed for working adults seeking flexible, industry-aligned academic advancement.
Coastline College is recognized for innovative and primarily online instruction. The Management Department embraces current and emerging technologies to enhance teaching, learning, and student engagement, and emphasizes practical, workforce-relevant skills that support student persistence, completion, and career advancement. Faculty have opportunities to further develop their teaching practice during two professional development days during the academic year, focus on strategies that support student success, as well as on-going sessions and seminars

The Coast Community College District is a multi-college district that includes Coastline Community College, Golden West College, and Orange Coast College. The three colleges offer programs in transfer, general education, occupational/technical education, community services and student support services. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Maintain currency within the assigned discipline(s)
- Demonstrate verbal and written communication proficiency with students, colleagues, and staff
- Demonstrate use of effective teaching methods and technologies appropriate for the course, discipline, modality, and students
- Demonstrate compliance with course outline requirements including course student learning outcomes support
- Maintenance of regular and timely office hours
- Ensure confidential, accurate maintenance of student records
- Adhere to College and departmental requirements consistent with applicable bargaining agreement
- Demonstrate appropriate respect for students by demonstrating the following characteristics: patience, fairness, promptness in the evaluation and discussion of student work, appropriate sensitivity and responsiveness to the needs of individual students, support of the diversity of our students, colleagues, and staff in actions, words, and teaching and learning methods.

- Provide instruction in Management and Business in accordance with established course outlines. Instruction may occur in the following modalities:
- On-site

- Correspondence (for Hope Scholars students)
- Pace+ (direct assessment, competency-based education)
- Provide leadership in the development and revision of Business and Management curriculum, responsive to the students served.
- Participate in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation; participate in and develop programs to measure student performance.
- Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
- Fulfill the professional responsibilities of a full-time faculty member including, but not limited to the following: teach all scheduled classes unless excused under provisions of Board Policy; follow the department course outlines; keep accurate records of student enrollment, attendance, and progress; submit student grades according to established deadlines; post and maintain scheduled office hours; participate in departmental meetings and college and/or district-wide activities and committees as assigned.
Qualifications and Physical Demands
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s in business administration, business management, business education, marketing, public administration, or finance OR
- Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Masters in Economics, accountancy, taxation or law OR
- Possess a combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent to the above. Candidates making an application on the basis of equivalency must submit an Application for Equivalency in addition to all other required materials.
