Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Career Pathways Navigator (CPN)/Customized Employment Specialist (CES)to join our team in Gardena. The CPN/CES assists individuals with intellectual & developmental disabilities in identifying and pursuing their career aspirations through tailored guidance, resources, and support services. We aim to facilitate access to employment opportunities that align with participants' skills, interests, and goals, fostering long-term career success and fulfillment. By offering personalized career plans and advocacy, we strive to empower participants to overcome barriers and achieve sustainable employment outcomes.
Key Responsibilities :
· Develop a Person-Centered Career Plan (PCCP) with the individual. The plan includes the individual's career goal or interests, strengths, challenges and barriers, regional center and generic services and supports, short term milestones, action steps, and timeline.
· Assist individuals with job preparation, coaching, technology assistance, community engagement and integration.
· Enroll individuals in college or vocational training programs, ensuring they are on the right educational or training path to achieve their careers aspirations.
· Provide direct assistance in the implementation of the plan including, guidance and information, and direct assistance accessing regional centers and generic services
· Facilitate competitive integrated employment (CIE) job placements, which can be achieved through direct hire.
· Monthly monitoring of the PCCP plan, making necessary adjustments.
- A strengths-based discovery process and the identification of components of an
- ideal job that are best suited for the individual.
- Working collaboratively with the individual and the employer to negotiate a
customized job, provisions of support, and terms of employment for theindividual.
- Providing coordination or assistance with acquiring employment supports,
training, and stabilization as well as any extended services needed for success at the workplace.coordinator to address long-term career development and support needs.
Qualifications:
- Assisting with transition planning with regional center service
- Bachelor’s degree and four years of experience providing employment services to a similar population.
- Fluent in English required; bilingual in Spanish, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Arabic, or Farsi preferred
- Familiarity with job coaching support, instructional strategies and developing on-the-job natural supports (preferred)
- Experience with instruction in critical life need areas, with emphasis on employment readiness, job placement and employment (preferred)
- Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to problem solve and react appropriately to emergency situations
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
- Valid California driver’s license and current auto insurance
