DIR's Office of External Affairs (OEA) assists all groups in the department with strategic consultations to develop and share public-facing content and to communicate effectively with each other and the public.
Under the general direction of the Deputy Director of DIR’s Office of External Affairs (OEA), the Staff Services Manager II Supervisory (SSM II, Creative Services Manager), is responsible for leading, planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating the activities of OEA’s Creative Services Group. Through subordinate supervisors and the multimedia marketing manager, the incumbent provides supervision, guidance and leads staff on concept development, production of graphic design, marketing, and other digital production needs. The Creative Service Manager makes recommendations to OEA leadership on how to improve the department's communications to ensure equity-embedded messaging. The incumbent must be able to think globally, have great attention to detail, high technical aptitude, excellent communication skills, and working knowledge of standard project management principles.
Verbal fluency in Spanish or another language commonly spoken in California (Tagalog, Punjabi, Hmong, Chinese, Korean, Farsi.) is preferred but not required.

The incumbent must handle sensitive and confidential materials and matters in a professional manner and establish cooperative working relationships with others. The incumbent has daily contact with other staff within the Office of External Affairs and also has contact frequently with staff in other DIR divisions, programs and units, and frequent contact with stakeholders. The incumbent is expected to maintain a hybrid work schedule with a minimum of two days per week in the office, or more based on operational needs. The position requires the ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time, and to move and transport office items in a safe manner. This position may require travel within the state (10 - 20%).
