About One APIA Nevada: One APIA Nevada is a 501(c)4 non-profit organization that incorporates progressive issue advocacy and a robust electoral program for the Asian Pacific Islander American (APIA) community in the state of Nevada.
We are seeking passionate Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islanders to organize and mobilize Nevadans to be civically engaged and informed of policies that affect the community.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for engaging with the community, organizing events, and advocating for social change.
- Community Advocacy & Relationship Building: Work diligently to build and sustain trust with Target Community (Filipino, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, and South Asian) ethnic and cultural groups across Nevada, as well as national organizations and leaders. Engage with community members (1:1s) to understand their needs, concerns, and suggestions for change. The ideal candidate will serve as a bridge between One APIA Nevada and the Target Community, ensuring that the organization’s work is informed by and responsive to community input.
- Voter Registration & Engagement: Lead efforts to enhance voter registration and engagement within the Target Community. Work with the organizing team to develop culturally sensitive strategies that increase voter turnout and participation in elections.
- Policy Education & Advocacy: Convey complex policy issues into accessible, community-oriented narratives that resonate with the Target Community. Work to educate community members on how these issues impact their lives, and empower them to engage in advocacy efforts that drive change.
- Cultural Event Planning: Plan and facilitate cultural events and gatherings that celebrate Target Community's heritage, traditions, and contributions. Ensure that these events are both educational and empowering, providing a platform for community members to connect, share, and take action.
- Youth Engagement: Collaborate with the Youth Organizer and Political Director to host educational events and stakeholder meetings with Target Community. Focus on issues that affect young people, encouraging them to participate in civic activities and leadership development opportunities.
- Data Collection & Analysis: Work with the Data Manager to collect and analyze data on community engagement, voter registration, and program effectiveness. Use insights from this data to refine strategies and improve outreach efforts.
- Collaboration with Team Members: Coordinate closely with other members of the organizing team, including the Field & QC Manager and Communications Specialist, to ensure a cohesive approach to community organizing and outreach.
